About Me

Me, Lorien Adey

My name is Lorien Adey, I want to live somewhere where drinks flow from cocktail hour till breakfast at Tiffany’s. As a child I wanted to be a fashion designer – now my love of fashion takes more of an appreciation role (I simply despise the whole cliché “passion for fashion” phrase). To me fashion is art and not only is it an extension of ourselves, it is a way of life. Fashion and style are in everything you do. I am frequently found skipping around London or Birmingham in my Louboutins and Harvey Nichols may as well be my second home. My iPhone corrects carrier to Cartier – I am quite proud of this fact.

Lorien.Me was started in late 2009 with no particular direction other than to be an outlet of myself; since it has expanded and I like to think of it as a showcase of what I enjoy in life be it clothes or certain restaurants I may be fond of (or in some cases not!). If you are looking for a Carrie Bradshaw esque tale of love and life you have come to the wrong place. I used to have a dream that people would one day care what shirts I wore – I realise now that was quite a narcissistic dream to have. So instead I will settle with showing you what shirts I wore not because I am important but because the shirts, brands, the fashion, the history and how they made me feel are important to me.

My style is eclectic; I feel torn sometimes as if it is an on going battle between what I suppose one could describe as preppy and the more avant garde. I am very loyal to British brands but I also go weak at my knees for French fashion. I am definitely more Harvey Nichs than Hollister (that does not mean I will judge you) and I love nothing more than an item of clothing which makes me smile. I am no dictator of taste but I do know a thing or two about style.

Brilliant site. We share a very similar style aesthetic and I’m pleased to have come across your site. I too consider myself a preppy style maven, but preppy with an edge. Nothing is more pleasing to me than pairing a pair of my Made and Crafted Levis with a white V-neck T-shirt, and old Ralph Lauren navy blazer with gold buttons and a pair of Gucci driving loafers or velvet slippers to make my day go zing! It’s that mixture of old traditionalism with new reinterpreted classic style that I find most appealing. Congrats on the new Loubouiton espadrilles! I too find absolutely perfect for the warmer summer months ahead. Keep writing, I’ll keep reading. I’m located here in Los Angeles, but make it over to England to visit my friends in Birmingham in London from time to time. Thank you and greetings from Southern California!
