The espadrilles is so flat that they will not fare that well I fear! After one wear they are quite scratched, however if you check out my latest blog post I mention Save Your Sole – I will buy some of their paint for my espadrilles as I think the shoe is too thin to get a sole attached!

Looove this packaging, very smooth. But I agree that the downside with dark is that you can’t see how much product you have left. Clever marketing ploy in some ways, downright annoying in others (no one likes to run out!)

I really like how bold their collection is for men in ss12. My favourite is number one as I can see that working in so many places and is probably the most versatile piece? I don’t actually want this….I NEED it! I’ve been looking around for something similar to store my winter clothes in and I think this will be perfect!

I’ve been trying to think of something interesting and so I thought I’d throw in a Princess Diana story, as you do

When I was younger, my parents always took me and my brother to the Royal Tournament at Earls Court. Anyway, one year, I can remember me and my brother had wandered off somewhere and he had managed to annoy me as usual, so I was trying to hit him. He was a lot faster than me, so there was a fair bit of running around involved. Next thing I knew, I ran through a crowd of people and ended up in an opening where everyone now seemed to be looking at me. I spun around to try and see my brother and instead I saw a small group of people, including a lady standing at the end of this tunnel of people smiling. I then caught sight of my parents, who were looking none too pleased, and ran over to them. It wasn’t until I was getting told off (whilst my brother was laughing in the background) that I found out it was Princess Diana.

So, that it. Not that interesting, but it’s the best you’re going to get at this time in the morning!

Random fact, I once was chased by a baboon on a farm in South Africa. My mate and I were walking along the river and eventually got lost, looking for our way back we stumble on a family of them and quite rightly we were chased out of their territory! Was terrifying!

The problem with Aquascutum, together with other ‘heritage’ labels like Daks and to an extent Pringle of Scotland, is that they’ve tried so hard to ‘do a Burberry’ without having the design genius of Christopher Bailey and the business savvy of Angela Arendts. Also, Aquascutum lacked something that Burberry had before its explosive success – an international standing as a designer label. Burberry might have suffered from the ‘chav’ associations of the late nineties but it meant at elast that consumers all over the world had heard of them. It’s easier to turn around a cheapened reputation than to build one from scratch, and I think Aquascutum thought that it could make it big in markets that had never heard of the label based on heritage alone. Alas, that wasn’t to be.

I hope for the sakes of Aquascutum’s staff it can be saved but its future if it has one lies in going back to its roots and staying small, not trying to be bigger than it could ever be.

I have an ongoing love-hate (mostly the latter) relationship with TK Maxx, your description of it as an ‘illogical jumble sale’ is absolutely spot on! I’ve tried to like them as friends who know and care about fashion get very enthused about it and the bargains to be had, but for me shopping is about so much more than just price – I want good service, and a relaxed experience, and some tissue paper…the pleasure I derive from something is as much about how it felt buying it as what it cost or even what it is!

So, am still not a convert, but I can see that a £300 pair of designer trousers for £33 is not to be sniffed at!

I love 4711 and have worn it for years as my default ‘casual’ fragrance when I just want to feel fresh without actually wearing a strong fragrance. You mention that it’s ‘a German-produced cologne’ – actually, as the name says, it is the ORIGINAL cologne – 4711 is the product the term ‘eau de Cologne’ or in German ‘Kolnwasser’ comes from!

History lesson over! Kyoku products are amazing too, I use their moisturiser and lip balm.

Ha no, I don’t have the Fashion week notebook. I don’t attend enough shows to warrant it! Did use my Smythson notebook that has the words ‘Style Icon’ on the front however!

I love this post. I was in the store recently and spent a ‘little’ money, you always receive marvellous customer service.

I agree the cards are great, but the paper is so lovely. I am trying the A4, and think I want to get some embossed with my initials.

Blog more on the issues of fine stationery!

Well I am taken, but I still feel valentines is an excuse to treat yourself. After all if you buy yourself a gift you really want, you will feel good. In turn this should make your relationship happier also! Well that’s my justification anyway. X
