Another Mulberry Monday

I treated myself to a little gift from Mulberry when I was in Harvey Nichols Birmingham on Sunday, and yes I realise I am using the word ‘treated’ again…

I finally got around to getting a Mulberry cover for my iPhone, I did order one at the start of this year when I ordered my Mulberry iPad case however due to a stock issue I did not get one. So since then I kept meaning to order one when they were back in stock, but it was not particularly at the forefront of my mind.

As you are all aware I am a massively Mulberry boy, and I love my natural soft leather – the grain, and the softness make a perfect combination in my opinion. I opted for oak natural leather as all my Mulberry leather goods are in the oak colour. It is a classic colour, and makes a good change from black.

Mulberry iPhone case

I thought at a cost of £65 the case is an absolute bargain, at that price I did not hesitate at all about buying it. Mulberry’s small leather pieces are priced relatively low, and well worth looking at. They also do one for the BlackBerry, and a variety of other colours, and leather finishes.

Mulberry iPhone 4 case in oak natural leather

Isn’t it gorgeous? Simple, classic yet some how subtly elegant at the same time. It snuggly fits my iPhone 4, and it is not too difficult to remove my phone. I was warned by the sales associate that it could potentially be difficult removing my phone at first, but once the weather wears a bit more it will be easier – however I did not have this issue myself.

My Mulberry wallet, iPad case, and iPhone case

I am slowly building up my Mulberry oak natural leather collection! Few more little pieces I am sorely tempted by. Only a short post as I am exhausted after quite a weekend drunkenly frolicking around Knightsbridge.

In my bag

Maybe it is just plain curiosity, but I love it when I see other blogs with ‘What’s in my bag posts’. Yes they are hardly original, but it’s a very personal thing, and I personally find it rather interesting. So I am going to show you what’s in my bag for work this morning. I am using my Reiss leather tan tote bag today:

Reiss tan tote bag

I am a notebook fiend, I simply love them. Especially my Moleskines (they are not called the legendary notebook for anything!). Great for sketching, and scribbling in, or simply just taking notes. I bought the ‘Lovers I had and Liked’ notebook (it’s by Archie Grand) from Harvey Nichols, it just really tickled me – you can get them with a variety of different titles equally amusing. I also have the miniature version of my Filofax for convenience, and checking dates more than anything – I must admit I seldomly use it, I should change that really.

Moleskines, Archie Grand notebooks, and Filofax

Of course then I have my gadgets; my iPhone, Kindle, BlackBerry, and camera. Would not go anywhere without my phones, the Kindle is great for a spot of reading on the go, and you never know when a photo opportunity may crop up – so I tend to have my DSLR on me a lot.

iPhone, Kindle, BlackBerry, and Canon

Then I have a spot of Mulberry, you didn’t think I could have a post like this without any Mulberry now did you?! I have my iPad (another gadget) in it’s Mulberrry iPad case, and of course I have my Mulberry wallet. The iPad is so handy, one of my favourite gadgets.

Mulberry iPad case, and Mulberry wallet

Just like I couldn’t have this post without a spot of Mulberry, I could not have it without a spot of Tom Ford either… I have my Tom Ford sunglasses (which look like they need a clean eek!) in my bag with their case, and Tom Ford’s Black Orchid fragrance in 30ml – which is a great portable size! I love my Tom Ford sunglasses, and you never know when the sun may pop out so it’s always handy to just throw them in. As for the fragrance it is delicious, a handy size to have on you, and you never know when you might want a spritz ;) .

Tom Ford Alphonse sunglasses, and Tom Ford Black Orchid

Then I have my keys on a Paul Smith key ring naturally, and a few products. I have Anatomicals Stop Cracking Up because sometimes my lips get really dry, and this is a great lip balm for when they are chapped. Kiehl’s Facial Fuel lip balm for when my lips need a bit of non-shine moisturise, and are not too chapped, and Kiehl’s Eye Alert to combat those morning puffy tired eyes. I also have some Life, and Anthony samples from Space NK Apothecary like Picture Perfect Face Moisturiser, Mighty Mitts Hand Cream, and Anthony Logistics for Men Vitamin C Facial Serum.

So what’s in your bag?

Mulberry Madness

As well as my recently bout of Kate Middle madness which I like to call “Middleton Mania”, I have had a case of “Mulberry Madness”. I really just cannot help myself… I’ve become a massive Mulberry fan boy (can you blame me?!).

A day doesn’t go by that I don’t find myself dribbling over Mulberry bags, and accessories. It’s nearing the point where I think I am boring those dearest to me to death with my incessant ramblings about Mulberry (I really just cannot help myself).

If I had all the money in the world I would drown myself with delicious Mulberry purchases, sadly I don’t… however I absolutely love my Mulberry iPad sleeve, and my Mulberry large clipper in scotch grain – they are divine investment pieces (or at least that’s how I justify the prices to myself ;) ).

In the past forty years Mulberry has made a name for itself, from it’s modest roots in Somerset to catwalks, and arms of men, and women all over the world; Mulberry is here to stay. It’s classic design with modern touches, it’s quality meets style, it’s countryside meets city, and it’s all very mouthwateringly delicious.

I am going to share with you some of my favourite Mulberry pieces, three women’s bags, and then three men’s bags:

Mulberry Alexa bag in Watermelon soft buffalo

Mulberry Alexa in watermelon – £766.00 (available at http://www.my-wardrobe.com/)

The Alexa satchel bag by Mulberry has become a classic in it’s own right. It was inspired by the none other than the gorgeous Alexa Chung, who has become such a British style icon. She was spotted with a Mulberry men’s vintage brief case (an old Elkington I think!), and thus it was only natural that Mulberry released a bag inspired by her. Part Elkington, part Bayswater with a spot of vintage inspiration, et voila you have the Alexa. It’s beautiful, it’s absolutely loveable! I love it in the watermelon colour, it’s bright, fresh, and it’s a stand out piece that takes any outfit from shab to chic.

Mulberry Bayswater in oak

Mulberry Bayswater in oak – £664.00 (available at http://www.my-wardrobe.com/)

Who doesn’t love a Bayswater? It’s become the hand bag of choice for any discerning woman across the world. You cannot walk down a street in London without encountering a Bayswater. It’s a timeless piece, and although available in plenty of colours, and finishes; I think the natural oak suits the classic bag the best. Perfect for the city, perfect for the countryside, the Bayswater is a refined beauty of a bag. It has a serious, yet playful look to it, and is suitable for most situations from work to play.

Mulberry Tilie in chestnut

Mulberry Tillie in chestnut – £812.00 (available at http://www.my-wardrobe.com/)

Another one of my favourite Mulberry women’s bags. The Tillie is a modern day classic. It’s a more masculine take on the Alexa. The bag is beautiful soft leather, which will in time wear brilliantly (nothing like lovingly worn leather!). I think this particular Mulberry bag is massively under rated, it’s excellently unconventional – but it’s so right. The masculine shape of the bag contrasted with the supple chestnut leather, and the beautiful trompe l’oeil buckles (which are actually magnetic). It’s a bag for any modern women who is serious, but devastatingly stylish.

…now onto the mens!

Mulberry black nylon clipper over night bag

Mulberry black nylon clipper – £189.00 (available at http://www.my-wardrobe.com/)

This nylon holdall I have lusted after for quite a while. It has a very reasonable price! One of the reasons I haven’t taken the dip, and purchased it, is simply I don’t have any immediate use for it… In an ideal world I’d go to the gym; in the real world I don’t. This would make the perfect gym bag. When not in use it can be folded into a small nylon zip bag, great for taking away abroad, and having another bag to return, or even a weekend away (not for me though! I have my beautiful Mulberry larger clipper :D ). If I ever stop being lazy, and start going to the gym, or justify it for another use I will snap this bag up without hesitation.

Mulberry Brynmore messenger in tan

Mulberry Brynmore messenger in tan – £562.00 (available at http://www.my-wardrobe.com/)

I have caressed this stylish leather messenger many a time in Selfridges. It’s a classic looking messenger for the modern day man, it includes pen slots (perfect to slip your Mont Blanc “writing instruments” into), and even has a mobile phone pocket to drop your iPhone, or BlackBerry into. I love the triple locks, and the Mulberry fastening. The tan leather looks great new, and looks even better worn. The canvas straps with the Mulberry hard ware give this bag a modern twist – the juxtaposition of the leather, and the canvas is great. It is a MUST have messenger bag for any modern gent.

Mulberry Heathcliffe soft briefcase in black

Mulberry Heathcliffe soft briefcase in black – £710.00 (available at http://www.my-wardrobe.com/)

What’s more traditional for a man than a briefcase? This briefcase from Mulberry certainly means business. This is quite a demure item, but has so much class. I love the gold hardware, the metal zips with the Mulberry tree emblem on them, and the leather tug tags – little detailing like that really makes this piece. The detachable canvas strap is also a useful feature. It has a padded pocket perfect for slipping your MacBook into. The soft leather as always looks great, but even better when it’s worn – I absolutely love soft leather. This bag is perfect for any business man, and for the rest of us that like to pretend (okay, maybe just me there but yes ha :) ).

Okay, so you’re probably going, “Is this like a RayBan commercial, or what?”

I’m in bed unable to sleep (okay well I was at the time, it’s the next day now) writing this (on the BlackBerry, iPhone is on charge). I was absolutely exhausted earlier… so its beyond me why I cannot sleep. I have had this lot recently. I’ll be shattered then as soon as I get into bed I’m wide awake, and restless. It’s awfully irritating, but at least I am using my time productively I suppose! Tossing, turning, and staring at the ceiling isn’t much fun admittedly, and I cannot for the life of my stand counting sheep.

I have had a little bit of an obsession with films adapted from the works of Bret Easton Ellis (my favourite author by the way) recently. Consequently I’m falling in love with RayBan Wayfarers AGAIN. I got rather sick of them in the revival we have had the past few years… but I’m so back into them. Wayfarers really are a classic. They are effortlessy cool, and thanks to RayBan’s clever marketing, and endoresements they have become a bit of a cultural icon. At the time of their manufaction in 1952 Wayfarers were revolutionary, and extremely stylish (well they still are!). Consequently they soar to popularity, and ever since despite a slight decline in the 90s have been in favour with the likes of the A listers (Kate Moss (pictured below), Chloë Sevigny, Mary Kate Olsen, Lily Allen, Katy Perry et cetera), and of course the general public.

I also actually have a pair of really early RayBan Wayfarers from the late 1950s, early 1960s – they are a lot more demure than the latest redesign (i.e. they don’t say RayBan ALL over them). They also have B&L (Bausch and Lomb) lightly etched on the lens, which the new ones don’t. Bausch, and Lomb was (is? I’m not sure) RayBans parent company.

They are a unique style, and now come in a variety of styles, colours (I had a white pair once!) and patterns (including a novelty folding pair). In my opinion the classic black will always be THE Wayfarers. They are one of the most copied style of sunglasses up there with aviators. I want to throw on a pair, and find myself a la The Informers lounging by a pool sipping, a cocktail, soaking up the sun, and living life to the full.

Quite possibly this is an end of summer equivalent of a mid life crisis… but I don’t care, bring on the Wayfarers. It is probably cheaper buying sunglasses right now anyway, and you never know unpredictable British weather is! Albeit I am put off with how cliche they are, it is undeniable that they are classics. Now the hype has calmed down a bit (2007-8 was all about Wayfarers), I think its time to get them out again!

They may be £120 a pair, but they are so, so, so worth investing in. Providing you look after them they should last you along time. They aren’t considered the best selling sunglasses of all time for nothing you know. I have a feeling they are going to be in, and out of style for many years to come. After all a classic always comes back at sometime.

I had a delicious meal the other night (steak, champagne, naturally), tad sad though, as one of my closest friends is off to university, and I probably will not see her now until Christmas. We normally see other at least every three days, and she normally stays over at least once a week, and we go on our silly day trips to theme parks, and supermarkets (usually 24 hour ones late at night). Hell I’ve even had the pleasure of this ladies company in New York City (the city of all cities), oh, and that one time we had to catch a bus together. It was one of the most hilarious, and embarrassing moments ever – I don’t know how we didn’t end up dead (our nearest Sunglass Hut is in the ghetto!). Together we’ve gone through a lot (and I’m not just on about the time we got lost, and drove around the same ring road for 40 minutes ha, or the car park “accident”), we both share the same mentality, and we both are a little bit crazy to say the least. I like a bit crazy though, makes life interesting.

Suppose I should look on the bright side; many more adventures to come. We still need to go to that monkey park… Although I think we have more fun in the car en route to our destinations, than our actual destinations themselves. I still laugh thinking about that one time we went the wrong way because we got distracted by the most beautiful Aston Martin speeding past… Okay it was a beautiful Aston Martin, and in my opinion worth the next fifteen minutes we lost spending getting back on track…

I feel a tad abandoned by a lot of people, but I just need to get myself on track. I’m working on it, and slowly I’ll get there. I’m doing things my way, after all it’s my life – don’t you forget (in the words of Talk Talk). Leaving this entry a short one, I have lots, and lots to do (I’m a busy bee once in a while). Ciao for now. Or bisou, bisou (can you tell I’ve watched the new Gossip Girl episode ha?)

p.s. I have to return some videotapes (a little reference for you people out there in the know).

Ignorance is bliss, and anyone for Pimm’s?

So right seeing as Summer Solstice has been, and gone, I officially declare British Summer time in full swing. Summer is my favourite time of year for many reasons…

When I think of Summer, the first thing that pops into my head is Pimm’s. Anyone for Pimm’s? Oh, yes please!! It is simply divine, and such a refreshing British drink. Pimm’s is a quintessential part of Summer. I don’t know about you, but my Summer certainly wouldn’t be the same without Pimm’s O’Clock moments. Summer has only just begun, and I’ve already managed to get through a few bottles already (not a surprise with this delicious weather right now!), but nothing quite compares to a chilled glass of Pimm’s, and lemonade (personally I’m a Schweppes kind of guy), with some fresh fruit, and mint (from your own garden, even better!). So, whether you are sat lounging in the garden on the flagstones soaking up some divine sunshine, or at a polo match enjoying a fine weekend in style; Pimm’s is an essential part of any summer.

Another part of summer I simply adore is the al fresco wining, and dining (prosecco, and barbeques?!). There is something ridiculously perfect about sitting outside in the evening, when the scorching sun has cooled down slightly, and having a gorgeous meal with friends, and family. Garden parties with glasses of Laurent Perrier rose, family meals (steak anyone?) with a touch of wine, and lunches with a spot of Pimm’s, it is all awfully de rigueur, and very pleasant ways to spend one’s time. Oh, and you cannot forget the ABSOLUTE delight that is Eton mess.

Summer is also an excellent excuse to jet off (not that you need an excuse) on a last minute holiday somewhere warm (especially with England’s bad luck with summer time weather!). Whether you fancy a bustling city break to a cultural city (Prague’s rather nice), or a couple of weeks of lounging, and spraying Veuve over yourself on the beaches of Marbella, or Juan-les-Pins (I mean come on, who wouldn’t want to be covered in champagne spray?!).

Summer en generale equates to a very happy Lorien. I find it allows you to appreciate some of the finer things in life (how many other times of the year is drinking the day so socially acceptable!?), but also combines the simple pleasures on life, in the respect you can just lounge, and relax – it is also a very sociable time of the year. Socialising in the sun is so much more satisfying for some reason. Everyone loves a spot of sun, and can you blame them?

I have found myself to be a very busy Lorien recently; at this time of year everything just seems to happen at once. I have had a lot to celebrate recently, and that’s always nice. A lot of birthdays, promotions, and things of late.

My darling Mother had her birthday too, we had a rather debauched meal, and evening (I invited some of my friends along too!) – which was lovely.

I like this photograph of Mumsy, and I, at my little sister’s birthday party – which I am just about to go on to.

My lovely little sister had her birthday party too, and god is she growing up quick. She is one hell of a fierce little redhead! I cannot believe how much she has grown up recently, thirteen going on eighteen!

I took this photograph of her for one of my classes, she has such a cute little face! I did her hair, and make up in this – it was supposed to be sort of hot mess, posh totty sort of thing? The photograph was supposed to scream excess, with the many rows of pearl, over made up face, and BlackBerry in hand. Her style is very Blair Waldorf esque, she loves pearls, bows, and classy things – but she wears them in her own kind of grungy way.

This photograph of my sister I took before we went out for my Mother’s birthday, she is wearing her first pair of ‘proper’ heels in it. She didn’t have any black tights that she hadn’t laddered, so we decided to mess them up more for a kind of grunge Princess sort of look? Very Courtney Love, or Taylor Momsen I guess? I think my little sister’s style is so cute, I love the quilted Chanel esque bag (I bought her that!), and the simple pearl bracelet – very cute.

So, who watched the World Cup? England’s loss to Germany was painful to watch – it really was brutal. Shame that we’re now out of the World Cup, as I rather enjoy watching the matches – oh well, better luck next time I hope! England played shamefully this time around, quite frankly I don’t think anyone is proud of our team right now. I love the atmosphere when you watch the matches, how it is so tense, and you’re on the edge of your seat (the alcohol consumed whilst watching it is always fun too).

I’m so exhausted, it is nearly 3 am as I write this, I’ve been non stop for days now, and I’ve barely slept at all. So much going on. Too little time! I’ve had a few issues recently, but I suppose I can sum it up with this very good piece of advice:

“Don’t be reckless with other people’s hearts,
don’t put up with people who are reckless with yours.”

Cliché, yes, but could have been worse, could have used Diana Vicker’s lyrics (after all I’m only going to let you kill me once!)? Something clearly I definitely need to pay more attention to… Ignorance is bliss, and sadly I’m not ignorant – enlightenment isn’t always the answer.

I have a lot to think about, but I’m not quite sure what to make of a lot of things – that combined with the epic factor that I’m a procrastinator extraordinaire really isn’t helping me right now… but ah well! I’m going to do things, and I’m going to do them my way; Lorien Adey isn’t going to change for anyone, and if you thought you could ever change me, ha well you are most certainly mistaken.

I think the following quote is quite relevant right now;

“I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they’re right, you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.”
— Marilyn Monroe

Now, I am going to bed as it’s ridiculously late, I have a busy day tomorrow, and my cup of tea has gone cold! I leave you with this photograph of me, because I can, I thought it looked pretty cool, and because I’m vain like that:

Amour-propre, change, Oxford, and la vie de Lorien

I decided to share something with you which wasn’t wrote with the intention of sharing, hence I’ve had to cut bits out, inserts ellipses, and change it slightly. Not really for my sake, more for other people’s sake – because I am nice like that.

I suppose it started off as a report of my amour-propre so to speak, then diverged into something completely different. This is a very modified, and abridged version I’m sharing with you.

My life right now;

- Full time student (when I bother to go, and don’t wake up a la Rita Hayworth in the afternoon, or pull a Holly Golightly, and just don’t sleep at all), and part time self proclaimed Office Bitch (sometimes).

- Cocktail, and champagne (Dommy P please!) excessive consumer.

- Slightly neurotic, impulsive, compulsive, arrogant, bombastic (I caught it off a certain ‘rat’), pompous at times, pretentious et cetera, et cetera, and at times a tad (understatement of course) belligerent.

- Daddy to a darling sugar glider named Louis.

- Causer of hassle/drama whatever I do in life, I get myself in the most peculiar situations (on a regular basis somehow) unintentionally… although I did enjoy extreme hide, and seek – needless to say it was quite thrilling.

- Teenage spinster with too many cats (‘come the fuck on Bridget!’, comes to mind?).

- Professional dirty stop out (this I am proud of).

- I live off the main food groups of cocktails, percy pigs, sushi, and steak.

- In a love hate relationship with my BlackBerry (the only person for me ;-) . ).

- Diamond in the rough (I can pretend? Right?).

- HOT MESS! (not to be confused with Ke$ha, I’m not a skank [yet] – albeit I’m sure I’d pull glitter off a hella lot better than …. (see definition of twat). ).

Typical aspects of my day;

- Roll out of bed in a very Ke$ha esque manner (minus vomit, and glitter naturally), (usually circa 1 pm), scrunch hair up a bit, spend time making it look like I’ve been having sex for ten million hours, or just got out of bed (either applicable, and preferable).

- Usually throw on some clothes laying on the floor, and somehow usually come up with a decent ensemble. Sunglasses are good, preferably big fuck off black ones (see Chanel, or Versace). Proper shoes on a daily basis, who cares if they hurt after awhile, they look good.

- Potter around dancing in my underwear to ridiculously loud music, putting clothes on, and off. (repeat, repeat, repeat^585858844.55654444 – no joke).

et cetera, et cetera. I think I’ll end it there…

Now on to a subject that has been preying on my mind of late, this subject is change.

Change is a funny thing, it is a constant occurrence in life that is never ending. It varies in significance, by the degree of change, to such an extent, change can go unnoticed, or on the other hand it can be so substantial that it creates an unimaginable impact. It affects us all, and everything in our lives. Certain circumstances in our life lead us to face more changes as opposed to other points, where very little change happens.

Right now I am facing a lot of change in my life, and quite frankly it scares me. Not all change is good change, but I always think no matter what life throws at you, that you should give it your best shot. After all, what do you have to lose? If you have something to lose, chances are half the time, your life would be better off without it. Sometimes you become far too attached to the things in life, and you forget the little things, the things that matter, the most important things in your life.

Now, and again you have to go to basics, and look at yourself á la distance to appreciate your life, and to see things in retrospect. There are things in life where I haven’t exactly conducted myself in the best possible way, but you learn from this, well I have, and you develop upon it. I do not regret anything, because there is no point – it’s in the past, and I’m certainly not going to regret anything which makes me smile, or laugh for that matter.

Some changes in life you have control of, others you have no say what so ever in the matter. I personally find my least favourite the ones you decide. If it is a change you have no control of, you just get on with it, and somehow find a way to cope. When it is a change you have carte blanc so to speak with, there is so much to consider. The consequence is all down to a rash choice you make essentially, and it can be quite daunting.

I am taking the attitude, ‘what is the worst that could happen?’, as really when it’s bad, it’s never really that bad. Armed with this attitude I am ready to face my the changes needed in my life, I am ready to face the world. I am on top of the world.

I went to Oxford for a couple of days last week to visit some great people, it is such a beautiful city, full of beautiful people. People in Oxford are so nice verse to my locality. This little trip was what I needed, it made me realise a lot of things about myself, my life, the people in my life, and just things en generale. I feel strangely refreshed, despite the fact I had quite a debauched time. One night went to a grotty bar club called The Cellar, grotty in the best possible way – in bars, and clubs similar to this, I’ve had some of the best nights out. I don’t think any photograph could do the night justice, never less I’ll share one with you;

I feel alive again, and I feel positive – things in my life are going good. I’ve encountered people worth been in my life, and I am really enjoying myself.

I went to the beach the other day, it was, well beautiful. My parents were away in Wales, and I visited them for a couple of days.

I bought myself an Alexander McQueen scarf the other day from Harvey Nichols, prior I had always hesitated – but once I tried it on, well, I had to have it!

I took a picture of the sky at sunset on the first day of the Volcanic ash;

Summer is here, and you know what that means? Lunching alfresco, I simply love it. Nothing like a spot of Veuve in the sun, or picnics by the river side – like we did in Oxford.

I’m leaving this at this, I’m happy, and enjoying myself. I am ready to tackle what life wants to throw at me, I say bring it on. I’m walking around smiling to myself, and no one is going to bring me down this time.

I leave you with this picture of me enjoying the sun, because I love the sun, and the sun is delicious… Pimm’s O’Clock, yes please…

The very bad beginning, or is it brilliant?!

My first entry uhm… do I fill it full of decadent words of promise and use pompous words worthy of an excellent scrabble score? Nah, I think I’ll pass on that. The point and direction of this blog I am not entirely sure, it is an outlet of sorts, where I intend I guess to share my life, the things in my life and the interests of my life.

I am an art and design student and part time general office bitch, but I feel more like a fictional book character – I’m a quasi socialite of sorts and I generally just like to have fun. My idea of fun isn’t universal (albeit it should be!), it usually involves cocktails, copious amounts of champagne (or prosecco depending on the cash flow situation) and wasting far too much money.

I’ll start with sharing a few miscellaneous things about myself;

  1. If you haven’t guessed I’m prone to extravagance and general excess in most aspects of life… I just cannot resist it. I either go all out or not at all.
  2. I love classical literature and moderns classics, Hemingway, Capote and Scott Fitzgerald – Breakfast at Tiffany’s, The Great Gatsby, and, Fiesta: The Sun Also Rises are among my most cherished books.
  3. Moët et Chandon is my favourite champagne (I probably drink more champagne than water half the time), simply because the nouveau chavy ness of it quite amuses me – although I’d love a bottle of Moët et Chandon Dom Pérignon 1995 (just thought I’d throw that in there, Christmas is coming up you know!).
  4. My sleeping habits are awful, I get up relatively early and I go to bed relatively late – I’m predominantly a night owl (hence why I am drafting this at near 2 am…).
  5. I don’t think I could live without my BlackBerry as awfully sad as that sounds, it’s an extension of myself. I am a true CrackBerry; I rarely put it down. I love feeling so connected, even if at times it can be a pain. On the note of BlackBerry, I don’t think I could date someone without a BlackBerry – they just wouldn’t understand.
  6. In Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Holly Golighty’s favourite place is Tiffany & Co. Mine is Selfridges. There is something about that store that perks me up when I’m in a mood which equates Holly’s “mean reds”. I love the effort to maintain appearance, sure it’s just one giant façade but I just adore it.
  7. My motto is, “Work hard, Party hard”, although I think I prefer Tara Tomes‘; “Work hard, Party Harder” …might just steal that.
  8. I am very much in agreement with Mae West’s quote, “You only live once, but if you do it right – once is enough”. She is a woman worthy of quotation many a time in my eyes.
  9. I probably come across as entirely pretentious, I’m not that bad – honestly! I’m rather like Marmite, people either love me or hate me. The exception being those who hate me grow to love me eventually. I can promise you I’m rather like able though!
  10. Despite living in a rural West Worcestershire village, I am really not a country person. I am a city boy at heart and as picturesque as it is here, I find it a bit awkward. I would not change growing up in the countryside though, I would say it’s benefited me far more than I could have ever hoped.

If you for some mad reason desire to know more of something specific, you can always read my about me or contact me.

Now to share something else… Flicking through December’s Vogue, I came across a fabulous article, just had to share. It was entitled Vogue’s 30 Ultimate Fashion Adventures… here’s a few of my favourites!

“Climb up the fire escape of a 30-storey Manhattan hotel in a Gucci minidress and heels”

Climb

“Take your whippet for a winter walk in an Alaïa sheepskin jacket”

“Wear a biker jacket in the style of Marlon Brando”

marlonbrando

“Be like the late Brooke Astor and travel (just once) with a maid”

brookeastor

“Have a bank vault for your jewels”

“Own a Chanel handbag”

chanel2.55

“Dive off a yacht still wearing a Borsalino sun hat – and not care”

I just simply love it, and I challenge Tara Tomes to the first one… she’s perfectly capable! As for the Chanel bag, I think every woman by law should have to own a Chanel 2.55 – they are a classic! This bag alone has inspired years of other bags, look at the high street and at high end designer bags today – most have a touch of Chanel inspire in them.

It really is the ultimate list of stylish things to have done in your life before you die. Probably one of my favourite features in Vogue in a while – recently Vogue has been a tad dry.

Tonight I was supposed to have gone to a ball, but I really did not fancy it – which is very uncharacteristic of me… I guess I’ll have to make up for it with extra champagne tomorrow then! That’s the way to do it.

The weather is getting rather bitter, a sign Christmas is on it’s way. As lovely as Christmas is, it makes me feel sick to think it’s less than a month away – rather disturbing if anything.

So what do you lot have planned for this weekend?

Personally for me, I’m thinking the usual champagne lunch and debaucherous behaviour – with a bit of shopping inbetween? Yes, sounds perfect if you ask me.
