Dolce & Gabbana Autumn/Winter 2012
Out of all the menswear Autumn Winter 2012 collections thus far I would have to say that Dolce & Gabbana’s collection is most definitely my favourite. There are so many pieces in the collection I would love to wear – it almost has a turn of the century romantic edge to it.
Think über luxe; silks (even pyjamas!), fur (astrakhan), pinstripe, gilt, velvet, jacquard, brocade, bow ties, scarves, and killer tailoring. A rich palette of greys, black, gold, and red. As they say if it’s not baroque, don’t fix it. Okay I kid, that was an absolutely awful joke, but in all serious I do not think this collection could have appealed to me more in aesthetics. I adore luxe finishes, and detailing – I also have a mild obsession with jacquard. It’s an upper class gentleman’s delight; very Oscar Wilde with a theatrical Phantom of the Opera air to it.
Rich in texture, effortlessly suave, and full of glamour what more could you want from a Dolce & Gabbana collection? These are my favourite looks (photos courtesy of Yannis Vlamos – http://www.gorunway.com):

The adornment on that red velvet jacket is a piece of art. I can imagine the show was quite a sight to behold in person, even from videos it looks incredible.
